During the month of April 2011 the Cove Gallery in Laguna Beach will show Vicki Burkhard's unique nature and landscape photography printed on hand made banana paper.

Vicki is a globetrotter traveling to many different locations around the world. During a stay in Costa Rica she discovered banana paper, which is hand made from the banana plant stem after the friuts have been harvested.

The Costa Rica artisans mix the pulp with other recycled materials and Vicki fell in love with the natural texture of the paper.

After returning to California she tested printing some of her favorite nature images on this paper. With a  high end ink jet print press she was able to achieve beautiful results and the fiber rich paper gives her photographs an almost three dimensional look.

Vicki will be on location at the Cove Gallery during the First Thursday Artwalk as well as at the Cove Gallery Spring Reception on Saturday, April 9 from 4 - 7 p.m. Snacks and refreshments will be served.
